Kitchen Beautician

My poor boy has been so sick. He has pneumonia the doctor said after I took him back for the 2nd time with a 104.5 temp. He hasn't been sick like this since he was about 3 yrs old. There's been sniffles here and there, but nothing like this. The worry I have scares me because what would I do if he or one of the other kids were really really sick, like terminally ill? My heart goes out to those parents who have to deal with that daily.
Sometimes I get caught up in everyday stresses and I forget how lucky I really am. Hunter can take antibiotics and get better, the kids are happy, and my husband loves me.

5 weird things....

Heidi wanted me to do 5 weird things about myself, and since I haven't blogged in forever, I thought this was a great way to start again...

1. I read every magazine from back to front

2. In the summer between 8th and 9th grade, I spent every single day with my best friend at the time (Kathy) and we only ate macaroni and cheese and cool ranch doritos. We had a list of famous guys we called the Kathmies that we had crushes on. Our favorite movie was Stand By Me and we watched it so much that one night laying on the grass in my back yard we recited the entire movie word for word, even the songs. Oh, and we watched Headbangers Ball every saturday night and would put hangers on our head during the songs we liked.

3. I used to eat mayo on my french fries...(yeah, I'm from Wisconsin)

4. When I was in 9th grade, I sang back up for a garage band called The Sewerheads.

5. I'm obsessed with reading. In fact, I often don't read a book because I know I can't control myself. If I start reading it, I feel like I have to finish it as soon as possible. My life stops until I'm finished with the book. I usually read a book in 2-3 days. Sometimes my dear husband has to intervene! :)

I passed, I passed, I passed passed passed!
I just took my state board licensing test on Wednesday. The most stressful day of my life so far, and I passed! It took me two years to take that stinking test, I hate taking tests, my brain freezes and I become a wreck. And I had some pruney old lady looking over my shoulder at everything I was doing. BUT I PASSED! Wooooo Hooooo! I'm not a kitchen beautician anymore, now I'm official!

Happy Halloween!

We've had so much fun this Halloween! This is Hallie's first one that she's really been able to get into. When she puts on her pirate costume she says "AYE MATEY!" she really loves it. And she's discovered candy, oh boy! Hunter has wanted to be Indiana Jones for the last few years, but I've never been able to pull the costume together for him. So this year I did. Thank heaven's for ebay!

The best weekend ever!

Thanks to my wonderful husband, I had the best weekend ever! My weekend started out with my coming home from work to a candlelight dinner and the kids at my mom's. He made me perfectly grilled salmon, rice pilaf, steamed veggies, ceasar salad and a glass of my favorite wine. Then we snuggled in bed and watched Amityville Horror while eating popcorn and m&ms. yum! On Saturday afternoon we met my parents with the kids at Apple Hill.

I love my husband. He always seems to know just what I need. He keeps me grounded in a sometimes insane life. The kids and I are so lucky to have him.

So Sweet!

As I was bustling around cleaning the house yesterday afternoon, and Darren was cooking dinner, I saw my two little sweeties finding comfort in each other. I love that they are so close eventhough they are so far apart in age. It did make me stop and think about how much more important cuddling is than cleaning!
